Instructions:
Make A Comb: - Make a painting "comb" with a piece of stiff posterboard paper. Cut a small rectangle of posterboard 10.2cm x 3.8cm (4in. x 1.5in.). Cut small V-shaped notches along one of the short sides. This creates a painting "comb".
Prepare The Paint:
- Combine 237mL (1 cup) of wallpaper paste with 10mL (2 teaspoons) of paint, and 5mL (1 teaspoon) of liquid soap.
Paint The Posterboard:
- Place newspaper under a sheet of posterboard paper.
- Brush the paint-paste mixture thickly onto your posterboard.
- Next, take your painting comb and drag a repeating pattern into the paste. Be sure to wipe the comb on your newspaper when it becomes clogged with the paint-paste mixture.
- Work quickly before the paint mixture dries. Once you are finished, allow the paper to dry completely.
Prepare The Pencil Pot:
- Cut away the top from a length of cardboard tubing. The bottom of the tubing with its closed-end is what you will use.
- Paint the inside of the tubing. Allow time for the paint to dry completely.
- Once it has dried, cut your painted paper to size. Glue it around the outside of the tubing to completely cover it.
- Finally, use a small piece of cloth or lace trim to decorate the top edge of your pencil pot.
